I like to name my hand planes after Irish geographical features; rivers, lakes, mountains and so forth. This mitre plane is The River Inney design. She is 7.5″ long and ideal for cross-grain work and obviously, shooting mitres. Also cuts a mean chamfer; a little at a time as the mouth is tight.
All parts were made in my shop and the infill is desert ironwood. I was fortunate to acquire a small quantity of this beautiful wood and by putting it into a hand plane I will have it for keeps. The only part of the plane I did not make was the blade. This plane is proving to be very useful around the shop for small works.
